Dear Friends,
As many of you may know, this past year I journeyed through a serious illness, which has taken me away from the gallery for the past six months; but in turn, has brought me closer to people I have come to hold so dear.
I opened the doors of the Van Dop Gallery a decade ago for one reason: to build relationships. Connecting people with others’ ideas and artistic expression continues to be my passion, and celebrating the 10th anniversary of the gallery has been something of a dream to me and my amazing husband Chester who has walked by my side every step of the way.
Together we want to say thank you, to you, our friends in this season of giving thanks. Thank you for your friendship, inspiration and strength. Thank you for the love you have shown us and our family over the past ten years and especially through the challenges this past year.
This Christmas season I encourage you to connect your dearest family and friends with the stories and creativity of others. It is a most wonderful feeling to give a one-of-a-kind gift to a loved one, while knowing you are sharing the inspiration and supporting the livelihood of a Canadian artist. I have done it again and again and it never gets old!
Blessed Christmas to you my friend and here’s to ten more years of building inspiring relationships.
Best Regards,
Trudy Van Dop
The Van Dop Gallery opened its doors in the fall of 1996. Over the last 10 years we’ve discovered many talented Canadian artists and met many wonderful friends. Our passion for promoting the arts and cultural industry has never wavered. And the talented artists and crafts people continue to grow.
Our 10th Anniversary, Open House in November was very successful. Many clients and friends joined and started the holiday gift giving season.
Congratulations to Arts Umbrella with yet another successful Annual Art Auction, held at Performance Works. The Van Dop Gallery sincerely thanks everyone who attended and the artists who generously donated their pieces, especially to some of the gallery’s featured artists - Kevin Snyder, Jill McRae, and Joanna Lovett.
Heather Johnston (Printmaker) – One of her “Magnolia” prints was chosen by IKEA to be sold in stores worldwide! Get this: IKEA found Heather on the Van Dop Gallery website! Congratulations, we are so proud to represent you!
Carole Arnston (Painter) – If you enjoy a juicy piece of steak and impressionistic florals, you’ll be glad to hear The Keg has been purchasing many of Carole’s paintings from the gallery for their restaurants. Most recently the new Keg in Montreal. Incorporating art and food together sure is delicious!
Carole has recently shown in Atlanta, Georgia and Boston, Massachusetts.
Interesting tidbit: Van Halen purchased two of Carole’s paintings for Rod Stewart's wife.
The Van Dop Gallery … We make a shopping experience like no other. That’s because we offer a relaxed, non-intimidating atmosphere. We have abundant parking and always friendly staff ready to help.
This season we have all your holiday favorites; Leaf Ornaments by Vilmain Klinger ($12), Grinch Trees by Jack Willoughby ($75 for set of 3). Honey Pots – reusable ceramic pot ($25), Hand-blown glass Pear Ornaments by Joanne Andrighetti ($20).
Not sure what to buy for the man who has everything?
We suggest:
- “For you, My son” (Father to son memory book) $10
- “Martini Glasses” airbrush print by Brad Dinwoodie $60
- Tie Clip $50. Money Clip $120 by Justin Rivard
- “Ray Gunz” Hand-blown glass by Jeff Burnette $500
- “Blue Sky and Mist @ Seven” painting by Carole Arnston $1875
If you are too busy and can’t get out of the office, we can help! The gallery offers gift certificates and personal shopping services with gift wrapping and shipping available. We are open from now until Christmas.
